It is easy in the days we live in to get caught up in the “what ifs”. Whether it be in the area of politics, health, economics, or relationships…we can rapidly descend into anxiety and fear. We feel with enough effort we can control them.  Yet, they take our eyes off of Jesus.   They rob our joy and our witness.

The words of David are an antidote for our desire to control.  Two of the most beautiful and difficult to implement words make up this command “be still”.  Wait and don’t fret are both behaviors that are not easy for us.  However, we can trust in the One who is in control and let go. We can keep our eyes on our Savior and know His plan is being carried out. He is sovereign, we are not. It is a matter of trust. Pray we will let go of our plan…and rest in the perfection of our Lord’s plan knowing He knows better than we do what we need…today and always!

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices. Psalm 37:7

  2. Rebecca, Thanks for the beautiful post. I is certainly easy to become anxious in today’s world, for a variety of reasons almost all of which are beyond our control. But God is Sovereign and absolutely nothing is outside of His plan. Waiting patiently is not my strong suit, but it is appropriate that I should be reminded of this. Thank you. I have included beautyinthemoments on my listing of Blogs I Follow for The Ruminant Scribe. I appreciate your postings. Linda
