It is my personal belief that we make God too small. As I listen to people, scroll through Facebook, and read the news, I am struck by the intense views about this coming presidential election. It seems like fear mongering is common place. Both sides seem to repeat the mantra, that their candidate is the only one who can save America. This just rubs me wrong. Not politically but spiritually. I usually prefer to stay away from devisive issues like politics, as I feel they would distract from the message that I am most passionate about…Jesus! However, I see this election taking our eyes off our true Savior and averting them to imperfect and incapable humans. Our faith is not in a political candidate. Our hope is not in the United States of America. Our future is not swayed by an election. Our faith is in what Jesus did for us on the cross. Our hope is in Jesus and the eternity we have with Him. Our future is secure. Heaven awaits. No human vote will change it. This life can be unsettling, sometimes difficult choices must be made, often we are discouraged by what we see around us. Yet, nothing surprises God. He has the whole world in His hands and can see far beyond the little pieces we are able to glimpse. We can trust in Him. There is no need to clutch. God is in control. Pray you see the sovereignty of God in both the election and all areas of your life…Giving Him the glory and credit He so rightly deserves…today and always!
O LORD, the God of our fathers, are You not God in the heavens? And are You not ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in Your hand so that no one can stand against You. 2 Chronicles 20:9
Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10
